College of Engineering, Trivandrum emerges as most sought after college
Thiruvananthapuram: College of Engineering, Trivandrum (CET) is the most sought after college when the allotment to vacant government quota seats in government and government-controlled self-financing colleges were published on Wednesday.
The last rank allotted to the college for the mechanical branch in state merit at CET was as high as 619. This was when the last rank allotted in the government and aided colleges under state merit was 4,210.
For civil engineering, the last allotment under state merit in government and aided colleges was 5,197 as against 735 in CET.
The seats remaining vacant in government, aided and government-controlled self-financing colleges after 5 pm on August 8 will be filled by the concerned college authorities through spot admissions on or before August 15.
Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT), Angamaly, is the most sought after college in the private self-financing colleges as only in two seats in government quota remaining vacant there for civil and three for instrumentation.
They are followed by SCMS School of Engineering (SCMS) and Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology, Kakkanad, with just 25 and 26 vacant seats respectively.
However, of the 37,427 seats, 16,890 seats were lying vacant when admissions to government quota seats in self-financing engineering colleges had closed.
