Prathapan, Prakash continue sparring

Controversial land notification order

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The slugfest over the withdrawal of the title-deed order has continued between Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash, Idukki DCC president Roy K Poulose and Mr T.N. Prathapan, MLA. Mr Adoor Prakash, belonging to the ‘I’ group, said that Mr Prathapan had sent a letter to him demanding to give title-deeds to people of the coastal region.

The minister asked Mr Prathapan whether it would be possible to award title-deeds to people who have land in the coastal region. He said if Mr Prathapan raised a ‘law point,’ he could counter it.

Mr Prakash said Mr. Poulose should not approach him with any recommendation on title-deeds, as he had demanded unconditional title-deeds.

“If unconditional title-deeds have to be provided, it should be discussed with KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran and in the party platform first,” he said.

He added that many applications had come from land owners seeking unconditional title-deeds. He said the amendments to the Kerala Land Assignment rules were brought in with good intentions. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had not disowned him after the amendments were cancelled, he added.
