Orders to shift the units have been issued by director of health Dr M. Ramani and others

Hyderabad: Two floors at the Petlaburj Maternity Hospital will be ready by the weekend and shifting of the medical and surgical wards of the Osmania General Hospital will commence, orders to shift the units have been issued by director of health Dr M. Ramani and internal opinion among doctors was polled by the OGH Doctors Association to ensure that there is no trouble again.

A senior doctor on condition of anonymity said, “A majority of them want the hospital building to be restored and hence have agreed for the shift. Our priority is the safety of patients, doctors and also the staff.”

Meanwhile, commercial taxes minister T. Srinivas Yadav, who visited the hospital, defended the government’s decision to construct new buildings in the OGH campus.

He said the hospital building was dilapidated and it was risky to keep patients in the building. The minister along with officials went round hospital and spoke to doctors and patients.

“Is the Opposition criticising the TRS government and the TRS out of vengeance? When we are trying to do something good, they should encourage us,” he said.

“There are several heritage buildings across the state. But what should be done when they are in a dilapidated condition?” the minister asked.

“Should the government allow such buildings to be used by thousands of patients and doctors”?

Launching a full scale attack, he said, “It is not too late. The Opposition should realise this and come to its senses. The government is taking up a good cause. If they don?t cooperate, they should not create obstacles,” he said. “Why are Opposition leaders scared of the construction of new buildings,”he asked.
