Fahadh is like a friend to me: Akshat Singh
Akshat Singh might not be a familiar face for film buffs here. But the 10-year-old boy is a super star who mesmerised audiences on a reality dance show telecast on a Hindi channel. Now, he is holding M’town audiences spellbound with his spectacular performance in Fahadh Faasil’s Ayal Njanalla.
It was after seeing him in the reality show, that actor Vineeth Kumar called Akshat to essay the role of Mottu in his debut directorial venture.
“That call was in an unexpected moment and that too came from a Malayalam director, which was completely new for me. But this one- month long shoot has made me able to speak a few Malayalam words,” says Akshat who hails from Kolkata.
Akshat avers that Vineeth’s direction helped him a lot to essay the role without any problem. “As the character is not a complete Malayali, I had a few Malayalam dialogues. Vineeth sir helped me to do it in a comfortable manner,” says the child actor, who has stolen the hearts of the audience with his three-minute long dance sequence.
“That dance was choreographed by director sir himself. It was he who taught me what expressions and gestures to use in the dance. I just tried to show what he asked me to do. It was a completely new experience,” says Akshat. He played the younger brother of Esha essayed by Mrudula.
Akshat, who wants to do more films in Malayalam, says that he was very comfortable working with Fahadh Faasil. “Fahadh is a very down to earth person, and very friendly with me. Throughout the shoot in Gujarat, we were together and he was like a friend of mine. I did not feel that he is a star in the film industry,” says Akshat.
The actor, who has essayed a lead role in a Japanese television commercial, is now all set to share screen space with his favourite star Salman Khan, in the third installment of Dabangg.
