Virugambakkam: Man kills live-in partner, stuffs her body in a sack

Chennai: A 40-year-old domestic help was allegedly murdered at her house in Virugambakkam by her live-in partner, a security guard, who strangled her on Monday night after an argument.
He then packed her body in a sack attempting to dispose it before cops landed at the house the next day after complaints by neighbours over foul smell. The deceased C. Dhanalakshmi was staying at a rented accommodation on 3rd cross street, Arcot road, Virugambakkam, for the past two years. She was working as a domestic help at an apartment complex where the accused, K. Sethuraj (40) worked as a security guard.
Sethuraj, a native of Tiruneleveli district was residing at Bajanai koil street in Tirusulam. Investigations revealed that both Sethuraj and Dhanalakshmi were separated from their spouses and over a period of time, they entered into a relationship.
“For the past few months, both of them were living together at Dhanalakshmi’s residence. The neighbors were of the assumption that they were married,” said a police officer adding that the duo used to quarrel frequently.
On Monday (Aug.3) evening, around 9 pm after a quarrel, Sethuraj had allegedly strangled Dhanalakshmi and killed her. The next morning, when neighbours enquired about her, he had told them that she went to the hospital.
However, the house owner Raja (43) approached the K.K.Nagar cops with a complaint after foul smell started emanating from the house. When cops broke open the house on Tuesday night, the woman’s body was found wrapped in a sack. The body was moved to the Government Royapettah Hospital for
post mortem.
Meanwhile, a team arrested the accused from Virugambakkam. During interrogations, he confessed to have committed the murder. K.K.Nagar police registered a case of murder and remanded him to judicial custody.
