The Indian govt is waiting for the situation to normalise before going ahead with the rescue mission

HYDERABAD: TD representative at the Centre Kambhampati Rammohan Rao caused confusion by his conflicting remarks over the release of the two Telugu professors taken hostage by IS militants in Libya.
“I was really confused about his statement. Initially I thought he was speaking on behalf of the Centre. But then he took back his statement. I called up officials in the Embassy in Libya. They told me that they have not got any confirmation about the release,” said Prof. Balram’s wife Sridevi.
“I also had called up the office of MEA. They told me that the talks with the abductors are still going on,” she added. However, Ms Sridevi said she was really optimistic about the release. “I strongly feel he will be released soon. In few days, he can reach India,” she said.
Officials at the MEA said they were working for the release of the two men. However, rescue efforts have got held up due to fighting in Libya between the pro-Muammar Gaddafi faction and IS militants. The Indian government is waiting for the situation to normalise before going ahead with the rescue mission, it was learnt.
