Sulking Shatrughan Sinha wants good sense to prevail
Sinha clarified that he was in no way questioning the Speaker’s decision
New Delhi: Actor-MP Shatrughan Sinha on Wednesday voiced unhappiness at the suspension of the Congress Lok Sabha members by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan. “Feel unhappy about the developments in Parliament... the expulsion of 25 learned MP friends, including one who was not even present,” Mr Sinha tweeted.
Several of his party colleagues said they shared his views. Participating in a debate in the Lok Sabha, Mr Hukum Singh said: “We need to convince them (Opposition) to sit in the House and participate in the discussions. The government and the party (BJP) is trying... but we should continue with our efforts.”
He said the government should try persuade the Congress and other parties to participate in discussions as the House was incomplete without them.
The Patna Sahib MP, who has been showering praise on BJP arch rival Nitish Kumar, state chief minister, tweeted further: “Good sense must prevail ... sooner the better”, in a reference to the Parliament logjam.
Speculation is rife that Mr Sinha is sulking over not getting due importance from both the state and central BJP leadership.
After his tweets created a controversy and were seen as going against the Speaker’s decision, Mr Sinha clarified that he was in no way questioning the Speaker’s decision, that was final and binding. “Sincere request. Please don’t go overboard in reaction to what I have tweeted. I have only expressed my sadness that things have come to such a pass that the honourable and respected Speaker had to take such a strong decision,” he tweeted.
