K Chandrasekhar Rao Googles for project sites
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was the most-searched leader last year in the state, according to Google Trends. Now he is using Google to search for places to locate new projects in the state.
Mr Rao is using Google Earth and Google Maps besides other applications with the assistance of software engineer, called Lokesh, to scan everything from land and water bodies to forests and illegal constructions in the city. He is using Google to check for a suitable location for the Pranahita-Chevella dam/barrage at Kaleswaram and other areas, the flow of Godavari from Nasik in Maharashtra to Rajahmundry in AP, canal networks, and a place for the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation project to name a few.
The CM has a giant screen which is linked to the Internet installed at his camp office at Begumpet and is using the technology during review meetings with irrigation, revenue, industries and other department officials. If the sessions are prolonged, lunch is also arranged for the officials.
CMO sources said that Mr Rao is up late into the night studying irrigation and other projects and also reports submitted by officials. Sources said that when officials quiz him about the Pranhita-Chevella project and the controversy surrounding it, Mr Rao immediately ask his assistant to switch on the computer and clicks his way to the project site in a jiffy.
“He has thorough knowledge of the projects, the flow of river, past mistakes in project design and the best location. You talk about location of film city and he zooms on the best location,” an official said.
“Ever since the installation of the giant screen, the CM has been using technology for studying various things about the state. He is awake till 2 am at times sipping tea occasionally to study project sites with his assistant while the household goes to sleep,” an official said.
