Centre says Telangana plea stalls Hyderabad High Court bifurcation
Hyderabad: Union law minister Sadananda Gowda on Wednesday made it clear that the Centre could initiate fresh steps for establishing a separate High Court for AP once the review petition filed by the Telangana state government in the High Court is disposed of.
The law minister informed the Lok Sabha during a special discussion on the issue, raised by TRS members, that the Centre was committed to bifurcating the High Court as per the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act and ruled out any delay in the matter.
Union parliamentary affairs minister M. Venkaiah Naidu, intervening in the discussion, said the Centre was very particular in taking the views of the existing High Court in this matter as it relates to separation of the court itself.
Replying to TRS members, Mr Gowda said the Centre was seriously considering the division of the High Court and that it had written to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu asking for measures the AP government is taking to provide infrastructural facilities for setting up the HC.
Mr Gowda also said that there was no need to take a political decision over this issue and the Centre will go by the procedure structured in the Reorganisation Act.
