Tasmac staffer burnt alive in Salem district

Miscreants had poured kerosene on the shutters and set fire to the closed shop
Salem: The “spirited” stir against sale of liquor in Tamil Nadu took a tragic turn on Tuesday night as a Tasmac liquor shop salesman was burnt alive inside the liquor outlet as miscreants set the shop on fire near Pudupalayam in Salem district.
Police said the Tasmac shop salesman, 42-year-old Selvam, had pulled down the shutters of the liquor outlet around 12 midnight on Tuesday and was busy counting the cash. Miscreants had poured kerosene on the shutters and set fire to the closed shop. The fire spread rapidly and the refrigerator inside the shop exploded. Selvam who was trapped inside the shop, could not open the shutters and escape. He called up shop supervisor Senthil Kumar, who alerted the fire station. By the time he was taken to the hospital, he died.
