Prostejov (Czech Republic): Indian girls were out of the semifinal race at the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals after a 0-3 defeat at the hands of Italy in Group ‘B’ here on Tuesday.
Hyderabad girl Shivani Amineni took to the court first, losing 4-6. 1-6 to Federica Rossi. The onus to bring India back was on Mahak Jain but she went down fighting 4-6, 5-7 to Elisabetta Cocciaerto in the second singles match.
In the dead doubles rubber, Prinkle Singh and Shivani lost 1-6, 4-6 to Federica and Elisabetta.
It was second successive defeat for the Indian team, following a 1-2 defeat against Czech Republic in the four-team Group ‘B’. Against the hosts, Shivani had won her singles match — 6-4, 6-4 over Anna Siskova — but lost the decisive doubles with Mahak.
