Tanmay Agarwal, Rahul Singh hit double tons
Danny, Rajendra, Akash, Omer, Abid, Sai, Eshwar, Varun, Sankeerth, Pragnay, Nishanth, Sandeep put on good shows
Hyderabad: Tanmay Agarwal of Ensconse and G. Rahul Singh of BDL scored brilliant double centuries on Day One of the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s three-day league matches being played in the city.
Batting first against Cambridge XI, Ensconse ended the day’s proceedings at 418/4 largely on the basis of solid opening partnership of 385 runs between Tanmay Agarwal and D. Arun Deva. Tanmay’s innings of 230 in 227 balls included 20 fours and 10 sixes. D. Arun Dev made a patient 137.
G. Rahul Singh smashed 17 fours and seven sixes as he went on to make 206 in just 174 balls against Evergreen. But other batsmen of BDL did not contribute much as they were bowled out for 297. Evergreen were 51/3 at the close of day’s play.
In another match, Danny Derek Prince’s 104 helped SBH to post 354/6 in 90 overs against India Cements. He was well supported by B. Sumanth, who missed his century by only four runs.
Meanwhile, A.M. Rajendra of Gemini Friends bowled a superb spell of 5/49 to restrict Andhra Bank to 201. At stumps, Andhra Bank were 45 for no loss in 11 overs.
Electing to bat first, EMCC were 258/9 at the end of day’s play against Continental. A. Akash was the top-scorer for EMCC with 121.
In the two-day elite matches, Sankeerth G. made an outstanding 157 against Galaxy CC to help Osmania post 355/9 in their first innings. T. Eashwar Rao was the pick of the bowlers for Galaxy with 5/81. In reply, Galaxy CC declared their innings at 286/9 with S. Pragnay Reddy top-scoring at 142. A draw was agreed to when Osmania were 70/3 in their second innings.
Mir Omer Khan’s 103 helped Gouds XI post 410/9 against Rakesh XI on Day One; Abid of New Blues bowled a magical spell of 7/67 to restrict Charminar CC to 232; Kosaraju were bowled out for 167 against Team Speed courtesy K. Sai Teja’s 5/51. Team Speed were 135/4 at stumps.
On Day One of plate league matches, Nishanth Yadav scored 178 to help Postal post 527 against P&T Colony. C. Varun was the top wicket-taker for P&T Colony with 5/99; Batting first, Sri Chakra were bowled out for 208 against Nizam CC. In reply, Nizam CC made 177/4 with Sandeep Naidu 119 not out.
