Land acquisition stops Hyderabad Metro work

Mr. Reddy said the acquisition of these buildings will be completed soon

Hyderabad: Acquisition of five major properties in Ameerpet, Jubliee Hills and Begumpet and near the Sangeet crossroads in Secunderabad are critical for work on Metro Rail but the process to acquire land is stuck in various stages. This was conveyed to chief secretary Rajiv Sharma by Hyderabad Metro Rail managing director N.V.S. Reddy on Tuesday.

The HMR needs the Transstroy building in Jubilee Hills, Rehmat Complex at Ameerpet junction, Nandakumar and Padmahamsa apartments near Sangeet crossroads and the RAK Ceramics building at Begumpet.

Mr. Reddy said the acquisition of these buildings will be completed soon. The acquisition of 35 properties including the Transstoy building are stuck in litigation, and information has been passed on to the government.

The government has to look into the matter and expedite the acquisition of these properties, sources said. So far, 1,967 foundations and 1,860 pillars had been laid under HMR.
