Hyderabad: IT minister K. T. Rama Rao said that the state government would partner major associations like Nasscom and Data Security Council of India to make Hyderabad a ‘cyber-safe destination’.
Speaking at the first edition of the Annual Cyber Security Conclave 2015, organised by Cyberabad Security Council, the minister mentioned about the major hacking of Mee Seva database which occurred earlier in the state, and stressed on the need of a policy change on cyber security in the state.
“Today cyber security is a reality and the new generation exists in a paradigm where they refuse to live in an unconnected world. Mobile governance will be a reality soon and so will be ‘Internet of Things’. The current realm places new challenges on the government,” the minister said.
Mr. Rao added that the state police was receiving training from cyber experts in order to thwart major cyber crimes in the state. “Telangana has partnered the C.R. Rao institute to train its police in cyber security. Telangana will now partner Nasscom and Data Security Council of India, as well to make Hyderabad a cyber-safe destination,” he said.
“The new world war would be fought with keyboards and we are preparing cyber warriors to combat this,” the minister added.
Cyberabad police commissioner C.V. Anand said it was important to create awareness among citizens against cyber crimes.
“The government has come up with processes and policies to govern cyber space and prevent or mitigate crime,” he said.
