CM Chandrasekhar Rao briefs Governor ESL Narasimhan on Osmania General Hospital, varsities
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao called on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and discussed issues pertaining to the state.
Sources said the Chief Minister discussed the government’s move to amend the Universities Act to streamline the universities in various aspects.
The state will have powers to appoint vice-chancellors and chancellors and other issues. A draft Act is likely to be ready in two weeks, it is learnt.
The Chief Minister briefed Governor on the controversy that kicked up following the government plan to demolish some of the buildings of Osmania General Hospital including the one built in 1920, a heritage structure which is in a dilapidated condition and unfit for dwelling, construction of twin towers, shifting patients to neighbouring hospitals and protests Opposition and heritage activists.
He reportedly explained to the Governor the dreadful conditions in OGH, the dilapidated buildings which can cave in any moment, technical committee report among other issues.
Sources said Mr Rao plans to setup a committee to go into the issue and give a report.
