Union Cabinet may take a view on the report before moving the Bill

New Delhi: A Congress MP in the Land panel claimed the final report would broadly argue for a Bill on the lines of the law that was earlier enacted by the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government.
Sources said that the Union Cabinet may take a view on the report before moving the Bill once more in the Lok Sabha. The government may accept the report either in its entirety or partially, sources said.
In a panel meeting on Monday, six of the amendments were discussed on which there was a consensus, while out of the total 15 amendments to the controversial Land Bill moved by the government, nine are considered substantial in nature.
Out of these nine, six, including the provisions dealing with the consent clause, social impact assessment, replacing the term ‘private company” with “private entity” were discussed at the meeting, on which there appeared to be a broad consensus, sources said.
