Mobile app for govt services by year-end
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A mobile application that offers all online services of the state government will be launched by the end of this year.
The Kerala State IT Mission is developing the app which would be compatible on Android, iOS, Windows and BlackBerry mobile platforms.
About 100 government services would be made available on the mobile platform initially.
It would include 24 different certificates from the revenue department, payment of examination fees of various universities, fees of motor vehicles department and contributions of welfare board.
The online services being offered by the Information Kerala Mission and a host of other general services like train and bus ticket bookings and payment of various public utility bills would also be offered through the app.
“Almost 70 percent of the government services are now under the e-governance. All these services, including that of public sector undertakings, will be integrated on the single mobile platform. This would also help avoid duplication of services,” IT Mission director K. Mohammed Safirulla told DC.
The app would also have SMS, Interactive Voice Response and Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (communication using specific number for various services)- based communication channels so that users without smart phones could also avail of the m-governance service using mobile, said Mr Arun Raj, technology expert with the IT Mission.
Though a mobile app of Kerala government is already available, it only offers services provided through IT Mission, that too by sending SMS.
