Hyderabad: To woo employees to go to Vijayawada as part of the exercise to shift the administration to the new capital region, the AP government has decided to increase House Rent Allowance. Employees will get the same HRA in Vijayawada as they are getting in Hyderabad.
The HRA is 30 per cent in Hyderabad and it was 20 per cent in Vijayawada. Finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu told the media that the government decided to increase the HRA of employees who shifted to the new capital region.
The government is not yet clear on increasing the HRA for employees who work at Vijayawada. Mr Ramakrishnudu also said that the employees would will be given loans through HUDCO to construct houses.
The government had decided to shift the administration at the earliest. But some employees are not ready to shift immediately. They had pointed out, among other things, the loss in HRA if they shift. The IAS officers committee, appointed by the government, had also recommended that the HRA of staff who shift to Vijayawada be protected.
