Lucknow: A 14-year-old girl, who has been impregnated by her father in Kanpur district, has refused to abort the fetus. The girl told the court that she would give her baby to a childless couple or an NGO, but would not abort it.
The girl, at present, is five and a half months pregnant and according to the reports of the doctors, she is ‘physically fragile’. The girl is presently staying at a shelter home in Swarup Nagar locality after her brother refused to let her stay in their home.
The girl’s father was sent to jail on charges of raping his daughter on July 16 after it was reported that he had raped his daughter and she was pregnant with his child.
The matter was taken up by a social activist who first took the girl for medical examination and when the doctors recommended abortion, which the girl refused. The matter was reported to the police. The court is expected to give orders this week.
