Boost for solar power
Hyderabad: The Telangana government’s efforts to generate solar power through private participation has yielded positive results as there is a huge response for the setting up of projects through the reverse bidding process.
While the government called for tenders for generating 2,000 MW, bids were filed by 101 firms for generating 5,988 MW, according to senior officials of TSPDCL.
The power utility has divided the process into two groups, viz 500 MW and 1,500 MW. Bids were filed for nearly 1,246 MW in the first group while in the second one bids have been received for 3,742 MW, officials said. The government has capped the price at Rs 6.43 per unit for Group I and Rs 6.32 per unit for Group II.
The price bids were opened on Monday evening and Sun Solar quoted the lowest rate, i.e. Rs 5.49 per unit in Group I while in Group II, Sky Power quoted Rs 5.17 per unit.
