Air traffic up, but losses recorded

It is expected that fiscal year 2014-2015 may see a decline in losses
Vijayawada: Despite an increase in air passengers and flight services at airports across the state, airports run by Airports Authority of India have recorded losses for the past four consecutive years — 2010 to 2014. However, it is expected that fiscal year 2014-2015 may see a decline in losses.
All five airports — Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Rajahmundry and Kadapa — were recording losses crores in the four fiscal years mentioned by Union minister for civil aviation Ashok Gajapathi Raju. As per the details submitted in Parliament, losses were mainly due to low air traffic movements resulting in lower aeronautical revenue, and basic operating expenditures
