Man’s arm cut off in scuffle over money for bidis

The arm of K. Musalayya, 50, a daily wage earner, was chopped off in Agiripalli village
Vijayawada: Petty squabbles at two separate places in Krishna district over tea and bidi left two persons hospitalised on Monday. The first incident literally cost a man his arm, while another man suffered a deep gnash on his throat.
The arm of K. Musalayya, 50, a daily wage earner, was chopped off in Agiripalli village after he refused to lend money to one Avutapalli Jogi, 30, to buy bidis.
Mr Musalayya’s refusal incensed Mr Jogi, who picked up a sickle and threw it at him. Mr Musalayya’s arm was severed clean from his body. He was rushed to the hospital where doctors ruled out the possibility of his hand being reattached since the severed hand was brought late to the hospital. Mr Jogi was caught and thrashed by locals before he was handed over to the cops.
In another incident, in Annavaram village, one E. Mallaiah was left with a deep gash on his throat after he tried to threaten Sk. Balaji, a tea vendor. Cops said Mallaiah was angry over not being served tea and threatened Balaji with some glass but ended up injuring himself. They lodged complaints against each other.
