Bengaluru: Nine dacoits arrested after raid
BENGALURU: North-East division police on Sunday arrested a nine-member gang which used to commit dacoity on outer ring roads.
The arrested have been identified as Manoj alias Lambu, 20, a resident of Vijayanagar, Dayanand alias Matti Daya, 29, from Mudalapalya, Raju, alias Child, 20, of Kengeri, Ramesh, 19, from Nagarabhavi, Ganesh, 19, a resident of Vijayanagar, Abhishek, 20, of Mudalapalya, Babu, 19, from Chikkaballapur, Abhishek, 20, from Nayandahalli, and Sagar, 19, from Mallathahalli.
The accused have cases against them in various police stations across the city.
According to the police, the gang members, armed with lethal weapons, used to threaten motorists at night on outer ring roads and isolated places and take away their valuables and cash. Based on a tip-off, a police team under DCP North-East Vikas Kumar Vikas conducted a raid and arrested the gang member.
The police have recovered two machetes, two knives, two dragons, two packets of chilli powder, a wooden club, two bikes and five mobile phones from the gang members. With the arrest of the nine-member gang, the police have claimed to have cracked seven cases of robbery, murder and cellphone snatching.
