No more experiments for me now: Allari Naresh
Allari Naresh has got the break he was looking for with his latest film James Bond. The actor, who is promoting the film across the two Telugu states, says, “This time, we planned the publicity well. Few of my last four-five films didn’t do well due to lack of publicity. So I decided to work hard on the publicity for this film and it’s got a good response.”
He says that he felt bad when people started writing him off. “Pressure is common for any actor and some of the big stars too go through this phase. But I felt bad when people started writing me off completely,” he says.
He agrees that his last few films didn’t do well at the box office. “I was doing the same kind of comedy films and I wanted to experiment, so I did a few experimental films. Those films were not well received and moreover, they all came at the same time,” adds the actor.
He says that he had done the films to reach a wider audience. “My regular films are watched mostly by the masses and many complained that I should also reach to the class audiences in multiplexes. That’s the reason why I experimented with a few films, but they did not work. But as an actor, I was more satisfied with some of the films like Laddu Babu,” says the actor. He adds that the problem is that people were expecting comedy even in experimental films.
“I have now decided to complete my films fast and also not to experiment for a few years,” says Naresh, adding that he has to do what people expect from him. “My earlier film Sudigadu was the highest grosser in my career and it was a comedy. Since then, people compare my films with Sudigadu and expect more comedy.”
The actor got married to Virupa a couple of months ago. “She is an architect and wanted to start on her own in Hyderabad. She doesn’t have knowledge about the film industry but she is always supportive,” he says.
Many actors’ wives become stylists, etc. for their husbands’ films, but Naresh doesn’t want his wife to give up her profession. “I don’t want to interfere with her profession, but give my full support in whatever she wants to do,” he says.
About his upcoming projects, he says that he is doing a film with Mohan Babu and another film is also about to start. “We got the rights of the Kannada film Victory for a Telugu remake. A couple of other projects are also in the pipeline,” he says.
