Hyderabad: Congress leader Shabbir Ali on Sunday accused the TRS government of acting like the ‘Taliban of Telangana’ and pursuing an agenda to erase all signs of the previous regimes.
Mr Shabbir Ali, Leader of Opposition in the Council, condemned the remarks of Dy CM Mohammed Mahmood Ali on the demolition of Charminar.
“Even Aurangzeb spared the Charminar when he conquered Golconda as it houses a mosque on the second floor. However, the Deputy CM seems to be ignorant of this fact and wants the historic monument to be razed,” he said.
“Taliban and ISIS (sic) demolished old buildings just to register their supremacy. Similarly, KCR has expressed his desire to go into history as the man who erased the memorabilia of the Asaf Jahi dynasty,” Mr Shabbir Ali said in the statement.
