Leaking drains, road works and broken water pipelines are creating puddles in residential areas
With monsoon rains lashing Salem, the dengue cases went up to 26 in the district last month
Hyderabad: The dry spell of July has led to an increase in mosquito density in the city resulting in a spurt in dengue and malaria. City hospitals registered four to five cases of dengue every week in July.
Senior paediatrician Dr Mohammed Altaf said, “Dengue is increasing. GHMC officers have to ensure that they register cases properly so that they can identify endemic areas.”
Leaking drains, road works and broken water pipelines are creating puddles in residential areas. Paediatrician Dr Farhan Merchant said, “The early onset of dengue indicates that it must be monitored properly. But the GHMC is not serious.”
