Mobile tower attracts drunken man to protest
Chennai: A 24-year-old man in an inebriated condition climbed atop a 200 foot high mobile phone tower in neighbouring Kancheepuram district on Sunday.
The man identified as tea stall worker K Mani, reportedly had few rounds of alcohol on Sunday morning with his friends and on the way back home spotted a tower on the terrace of Baskar's house in Sivakanchi.
"He went to the terrace from the stairway outside the building and climbed on top of the tower. Only after people started gathering on the road did the house owner Mani notice the man on top of the tower," the police said.
Mani said he supports Sasi Perumal in bringing total prohibition in the state. He claimed that he had been spending all his earnings at Tasmac shops. "There should be no liquor shop. I am also a victim of Tasmac. I have been spending by income for alcohol," he said.
Only after police team arrived on the spot and negotiated with him, Mani came down. He was later taken to hospital where he was checked for drunken condition. The police booked him for drunken behavior and also for trespassing into private premises. He was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
