Godavari likely to make Krishna boom
The inflows to Prakasam barrage stopped, forcing the farmers in area under irrigation in distress
Hyderabad: The AP government is planning to divert 8,000 cusecs of Godavari water per day to Prakasam barrage from August 15 through Pattiseema Lift Scheme. If that materialises, it will be a boon for the 13 lakh acres under Krishna Delta presently craving for water.
With the inflows reaching Prakasam in early July, farmers started sowing seed beds and at some places, started transplantation of paddy.
But after a few days, the inflows to Prakasam barrage stopped, forcing the farmers in area under irrigation in distress.
If the Godavari water reaches Prakasam through Pattiseema, there will be no problem for Krishna Delta this season, though remaining area under various Krishna-based projects will face problems.
