Gang butchers ‘abuser’ in Bengaluru

Victim, accused of sexually assaulting minor, attacked in broad daylight

BENGALURU: A 27-year-old accused in a sexual assault case was hacked to death by a gang of armed men in broad daylight in HAL police station limits on Sunday morning. The deceased, identified as Syed Abdul, was a plumber by profession and had come out on bail only a few days ago. He was arrested by the HAL police in 2013 on charges of sexually assaulting a girl and was living in his brother’s house in Islampur.

The brutal murder came to light after few shopkeepers informed the police about the attack. The police who immediately rushed to the spot later identified the deceased as Abdul.

“The preliminary investigations reveal that a group of four armed men who knew about Abdul’s whereabouts and current location carried out an attack and stabbed him multiple times before fleeing the spot. The police suspect that Amjab, brother of rape victim could be behind the attack. However, the police cannot clearly say who are behind his murder,” said a senior police officer.

According to the police, the brutal attack took place around 8.30 am on Sunday while the deceased was returning home from a nearby market finishing his tea. As he was walking home, a gang of around four men attacked him with lethal weapons and repeatedly stabbed him before he collapsed on the ground bleeding profusely. Abdul’s parents who had relocated their house to Hosur after his arrest have been informed about the incident.

As a part of bail condition, Abdul was living in Islampur as he had to regularly show up before the police in HAL police station. The HAL police have taken up the case and are questioning the area shopkeepers in this regard.
