Watch: Man enters 1000 competitions but is he a winner?

What goes through your mind when you participate in a fun quiz printed at the back of a magazine or fill out a raffle draw ticket at the supermarket? What are the chances that you might actually end up winning something? British YouTuber Andrew Lloyd decided to find out. The 23-year-old student was fascinated with the idea of winning prizes at commercial contests from the age of just 12. Unable to indulge in his passion for winning such competitions during childhood because of parental restrictions, he decided to try out his luck as an adult ten years later.

His ambitious project included participating in no less than 1000 different commercial competitions advertised in magazines, the Internet and even on lolly-wrappers, cereal boxes and food packets. He took part in 20 competitions each day for 50 days to meet his target without entering the same competition twice. He kept track of all the contests he took part in on a notice board and made a YouTube video of his task.

What was the result? Andrew won a total of just four out of 1000, which translates to a meagre 1 in 250 success rate.

Hopefully, Andrew has been cured of his obsession for winning competitions.
