All of us dread the visit to the dentist, yet sparkling white teeth are a must have if you wish to look great. For the upkeep of your teeth, it’s important to take good measures and not subscribe to some popular yet untrue myths.

1. Scaling is not good for teeth.
Fact: Not at all. Scaling and deep cleaning of gums prevents the problem of bad breath and bleeding gums. One should get professional cleaning done by a dentist with a proper ultrasonic scaler.

2. Only sugar causes cavities.
Fact: Cavities occur when bacteria produces acids in the mouth. The process can begin by any carb that you consume. That includes sugar, fruits, vegetables, rice and bread. To reduce chances of tooth decay, one should limit the intake of acidic products.

3. Teeth whitening is harmful.
Fact: Modern techniques work by exfoliating stains from one’s teeth to lighten them. It is the safest procedure being used by dentists as it is devoid of bleaching agents.

4. Brushing Your Bleeding Gums Is Bad.
Fact: Brushing is good for your gums and tongue. Brushing these areas reduces risk of inflammation and gum disease. One should not brush too hard.

5. Using chewing gums with Xylitol after meals can replace brushing
Fact: Nothing can replace proper brushing . If you want to use sugarless chewing gum do not chew it for more than 10 minutes.
