Chennai fans bat for CSK’s return
Saravanan said there is no IPL without CSK. “Be it football, cricket, tennis or kabaddi, fan connect is a vital factor
Chennai: Fans of the suspended Chennai Super Kings team gathered outside the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium as part of “SaveCSK” campaign on Saturday.
Headed by ardent CSK fan H. Saravanan, loyalists of the franchisee went ahead with their agenda, which was to run a signature campaign and send the petition to BCCI and Supreme Court.
Saravanan said there is no IPL without CSK. “Be it football, cricket, tennis or kabaddi, fan connect is a vital factor. Without them it is impossible to make any event successful. Even a few weeks ago, the Champions League T20 was scrapped citing lack of popularity among fans.”
“Going by it, CSK has a huge fan base across the globe. I don’t see IPL reaching out to the masses without the participation of MSD’s boys in yellow. This is namma Chennai and namma Dhoni. We all want CSK back,” he said.
He stated that it is not protest but a “humble request to the apex court and the Board to reconsider their stand.”
“We haven’t yet consulted a lawyer on how to proceed further with our petition. We will discuss about it tomorrow,” said Saravanan, who requested the celebrities in the city to join their cause.
