Incorrect choices hit 6,000 students in Telangana
Hyderabad: In all, 26,695 seats remained vacant in private engineering colleges at the end of the second and final phase of TS Eamcet counselling on Friday. About 6,000 students were not allotted seats due to improper estimation while filling choices.
Authorities had warned students that sufficient number of choices must be marked in the web options, but many students had filled just one college option.
At the end of first phase of counselling, too, more than 9,000 students out of the total 62,000 could not be allotted seats. More seats are likely to fall vacant as students can cancel their allotments till August 7.
Private colleges fill the vacant seats through spot admissions after issuing notifications. The fee is generally the same as the convener quota, but colleges desperate to fill up seats will offer discounts and other inducements.
Many engineering colleges had last year offered discounts on the annual fees while some others had made ‘one-plus-one’ offers. The same can be expected this year too.
In the second phase counselling, more than 7,000 students were allotted seats afresh. All students who have been allotted colleges have to pay their fee by Monday.
