U-turn by Telangana Deputy CM Mahmood Ali on Charminar row
Osmania General Hospital is the symbol of Telangana, says Mahmood Al
Hyderabad: As his statement was flashed widely on television, Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali, who was on his way to Warangal refuted it. He said, “How can I say that Charminar will be demolished? It is the symbol of Telangana. It is not in a bad condition right now. What I referred to is years later and did so in explaining the government’s stand on Osmania General Hospital.”
He added, “Hame is city ko acha hospital bana ke dena hai. Agar awam ko yeh manzoor hoga toh ham hospital tohd denge. Agar nahi toh ham koi aur faisla lenge. Jo bhi hoga, awam ke phayde or manzoori se hi hoga.”
Earlier, Telangana Deputy CM Mahmood Ali pointed out that after spending Rs 100 crore on the maintenance of the Osmania General Hospital, the government will only get a warranty for eight to 10 years only.
He said, “Instead of spending Rs 100 crore from the taxpayers’ money and demolishing it 10 years later, we are turning it into a good hospital now. People of the Old City require a new hospital to meet their requirements.”
