Kovai AIADMK functionaries petition Jayalalithaa
Travellers had threatened police attached to B3 police station on July 3, when the car was stopped from entering a 'no entry’ zone
CHENNAI: AIADMK functionaries from Coimbatore have sent a petition to the party general secretary, J. Jayalalithaa, that the son of a local minister was often misusing the official capacity of his father. The petition with pictures alleged that the minister’s car was often being used by youngsters violating traffic norms. Travellers had threatened police attached to B3 police station on July 3, when the car was stopped from entering a 'no entry’ zone.
As many as 10 office-bearers along with their cellphone numbers had urged Jayalalithaa to look into the issue as the behaviour of those associated with the minister had brought disrepute to the party.
A copy of the petition available with DC alleged that the Scorpio car bearing number TN 33 AL 5656 was often seen making rounds near educational institutions with the beacon light on. In the vehicle though the government number plate carrying the ‘G’ symbol was missing, it had the government emblem on the rear door. The car had sun film on all its doors violating rules. A party worker, who had also affixed his signature in the petition, said the intention of the complaint was not to tarnish the minister’s image.
“Political rivals are making use of such opportunities by petitioning the party high command. We have got the plea”, confirmed an AIADMK source.
