BJP opposes shifting Indira Gandhi Zoological Park

K Hari Babu said they would campaign vigorously against the proposal
Visakhapatnam: The ongoing protests against the proposal to shift Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) are gaining momentum with several political parties, environmental organisations voicing their protests loudly.
While the Left parties staged protest demonstrations in the last few days, Vizag North MLA P. Vishu Kumar Raju strongly opposed the move to shift the zoo at the BJP state-level meeting held here on Saturday.
Sources said that Mr Vishnu Kumar Raju expressed that instead of shifting the zoo, which is a costly affair, the government should make efforts to develop more facilities in the existing zoo. He also mentioned that opinions of experts and local people should also be taken into consideration before taking such a decision. Shifting is not an easy task since it involves a lot of procedure, he pointed out.
Vizag MP K. Hari Babu said nothing was discussed about shifting the zoo in any forum either at the central-level or the state. He said they would campaign vigorously against the proposal.
