Anoop Jacob warns of stern action

Kochi: Civil supplies minister Anoop Jacob said on Saturday that the government will take stern action if the rice traders from other states tried to torpedo its efforts to source ‘Jaya’, a variety of rice popular in the state, from Andhra Pradesh.

“They claim that the state government has not cleared their dues,” he said. “That they have no issues in the state sourcing other varieties exposes the hollowness of their stand.”

The government will get in touch with the Andhra Pradesh government, AP civil supplies department and local traders to ensure adequate supply of ‘Jaya’ rice, he said.
