Two killed, two injured in road accident near Kundrathur
Victims were returning home from their office at Ambattur when they met with the accident
Chennai: Two persons were killed on the spot and two others suffered minor injuries after a speeding car rammed into a two-wheeler on the Maduravoyal-Tambaram bypass road near Kundrathur on Friday night.
The victims, R. Sekar (40), of new Perungalathur and M. Jeyakanthan (45), of Madambakkam, were returning home from their office at Ambattur when they met with the accident.
Police investigations revealed that a speeding car tailing the victims’ two-wheeler knocked them down around 7 pm on Friday. “The car bearing registration number TN 02 AJ 1711 was being driven at high speed and one of its tyres burst leading to the accident. The car lost control and hit the two wheeler,” said an investigating officer.
Sekar and Jeyakanthan were thrown to the ground in the impact and suffered grievous injuries. They were moved to the Chromepet government hospital where they were declared brought dead. A couple, Roger and Jasmine who were trailing the car sustained minor injuries when they rammed into the car after it came to a sudden halt, police said.
Poonamalee traffic investigation wing has registered a case and has launched a hunt for the occupants of the car. “The driver and others abandoned the car and fled the scene. The registration number also led us only to the previous owner of the vehicle who sold the car to a used car dealer in 2013,” a police officer said, adding, that the car was sold to another person last year and efforts are on to trace the present owners of the vehicle.
