Tapeswaram laddu aims for Guinness
The workers will take Vinayaka Deeksha a week before preparing the Laddu
KAKINADA: Tapeswaram in East Godavari District has always been known for a special folded Kaja. But, since four or five years, ‘Tapeswaram Laddu’ is also being sought after, especially during Vinayaka Chaturdhi. Two traders of the village prepare the laddu and distribute it to various Vinayaka pandals in the state.
Bhakthanjaneya Sweet Stall owner Saladi Venkateswara Rao (Srinu Babu) got into Guinness Book of Records four times. He wants to break the record a fifth time. He applied to Guinness Book organisers to assess the quantity and quality of Laddu. Vinayaka Chaturdhi festival will be held on September 17 this year.
The workers will take Vinayaka Deeksha a week before preparing the Laddu. They prepared 5,570 kilos of laddu in 2011, 6,599.290 kilos of Laddu in 2012, 7,132.870 kilos of laddu in 2013 and 7,858 kilos of laddu in 2014 at a cost of Rs 14 lakh. He now wants to prepare a huge laddu at a cost of Rs 16 lakh with more quantity than last year.
