Candidates leave no stone unturned to bag post in women’s university

Tirupati: Candidates for the much coveted vice-chancellor's post for the one and only women's university in the state, Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV) are using political influence from Delhi and other ways to bag the post.

The state government constituted a three-member committee in which state higher education chief secretary Sumitha Dawra will act as nominee on behalf of the government while other two will act as nominees for UGC.

Unconfirmed reports said that as many as 44 eligible candidates who have been working as professors in SV University, SPMVV and other universities in the state have applied for the VC post and have sent their details to the state higher education department mentioning their eligibility to be a VC.

The tenure of the present vice-chancellor S. Ratnakumari, who was appointed during Kiran Kumar Reddy's government, will end on September 14, 2015. The race for the post has already begun.
