MDMK calls for political parties to meet on August 4
Mr Vaiko said that the meeting has been convened to ensure that those accused of illegal killing are brought to justice
Chennai: MDMK general secretary Vaiko on Friday announced that a consultation meeting of political parties and human rights group would be held on August 4 in connection with the killing of 20 woodcutters from Tamil Nadu by Andhra Pradesh police.
In a statement, Mr Vaiko said that the meeting has been convened to ensure that those accused of illegal killing are brought to justice and payment of adequate compensation to victims families.
He said that in the consultation meeting held on July 15, it was decided to meet Chief Minister Jayalalitha to press the demand for the state government to implead in the Tamils killing case in AP high court and also to hand over the post mortem report to the families of the victims. He noted that he had sought an appointment with CM on July 15 itself but so far he did not receive any reply.
