IS kidnaps two Telangana, AP teachers

Two Telugu people — T. Gopi Krishna from Tekkali area of Srikakulam district and Balram from Hyderabad — are yet to be freed

Visakhapatnam/New Delhi: Two of the four Indian teachers kidnapped in Libya, allegedly by the Islamic State terror group while returning to India from Tripoli on July 29, were released on Friday evening.

However, two Telugu people — T. Gopi Krishna from Tekkali area of Srikakulam district and Balram from Hyderabad — are yet to be freed.

Four Indians — Gopi Krishna, Balram, Lakshmikanth and Vijay Kumar — had been abducted in Libya by IS on the night of July 29. They were detained at a checkpoint near the Sirte area.

On Friday, Mr Lakshmikanth and Mr Vijay Kumar of Karnataka were released. External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj had briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the incident on Friday morning.
