Gurudas Kamat denies calling Smriti Irani ‘kaamwali bai’

Kamat also rued that his comments were taken out of context
Jaipur: Claiming that his comments about Smriti Irani were taken out of context, AICC general secretary Gurudas Kamat has clarified that he never called the Union minister a “kaamwali bai” although he admitted making a comment on her job in MacDonald restaurant. Speaking to The Asian Age from Mumbai, Mr Kamat said that during party meetings in Rajasthan he never used the phrase “kaamwali bai” for Ms Irani nor did he comment on her humble background. According to Mr Kamat, all he said was that he knew about Ms Irani’s struggling days before becoming a popular TV actress since her family lived in Versova from where he has been a five-time MP. “It was in this context that I mentioned that she worked in MacDonald’s — something which is already in public domain.”
