DCA issues notice to 24 pharma units
They were found violating norms by the Telangana State Drug Control Administration
Hyderabad: As many as 24 pharmaceutical units in the city were found violating norms by the Telangana State Drug Control Administration (DCA). The DCA seized the equipment of two pharma units and cases were booked against them. The remaining 22 pharma companies were served showcause notices.
DCA director Dr Akun Sabharwal said surprise checks were conducted at several pharma units this week after specific information that the processes and products of the pharma companies were not up to the mark.
“The aim of these inspections is to ensure that good manufacturing practices are followed by manufacturers,” Dr Sabharwal said. Persian Laboratories, Nifty Pharma, Medreich Limited, Cyma Life Sciences are among the 24 pharma companies found violating norms.
The companies served showcause notices were asked details about products sold. If there are no satisfactory replies, legal action will be initiated and orders to stop production can be issued.
