Kanchipuram youth kills self over Abdul Kalam’s death

In his suicide note, the youth said he was offering his life as his tribute to Kalam
Chennai: A 27-year-old youth hanged himself in Thiruporur, Kanchipuram district as he was reportedly unable to bear the sorrow after the demise of former President A.P.J Abdul Kalam.
In his suicide note, the youth said he was offering his life as his tribute to Kalam. The deceased was identified as D. Subramani, a native of Thiruvarur who was working as an assistant safety engineer in a private company in Thiruporur for the last three years after finishing his engineering diploma and a course in safety.
At around 5.30 am, he had told one of his roommates that he was not going to the office for the early morning shift and promised to join duty by 9 am and so his roommate went to work.
At around 7.30 am when one of his colleagues went to pick him up to go to work, Subramani was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his room. His colleague, along with people from the neighbourhood, broke open the door, by which time Subramani was already dead.
He had left behind a suicide note saying he was offering his life as tribute to Kalam and also apologised to his parents, friends and relatives for his decision to end his life. He added that Kalam’s death had made him feel very sad. “I have not seen such a clean and humble man so far in my life. Nobody had paid tribute to Kalam with their lives. I am doing it with my life”, he went on to say in the note.
The body was taken to Chengalpet medical college where the post mortem was conducted. His uncle Dakshinamoorthy, who works in Chennai, received the body after post mortem and took it to his native place Thiruvarur on Friday afternoon.
