My life has changed now: Prabhakar

The actor is happy with his newfound celebrity status

Till now, he was known as “Maryada Ramanna Prabhakar” because of his character in the hit film. But from now on, he will be known as “Kaalakeya Prabhakar” after Baahubali. Prabhakar, who played the baddie Kaalakeya, was lauded for his performance in the blockbuster and his rendition of the imaginary language Kilikil in the film has become an instant hit.

“I practised the dialogues at home. I would wake up at 3 am and practise till 6 am. I couldn’t practice the dialogues at any other location as it was a secret,” reveals Prabhakar.

He also says that the language he speaks in the film has actual meaning. “All the dialogues have proper meanings and the director is releasing the meaning of those dialogues,” says Prabhakar.

The actor is happy with his newfound celebrity status. “I usually go to the Skandagiri temple in Secunderabad. Earlier, a few people would come up to me for photos but now, after Baahubali, I was surprised to see the number of people surrounding me… Even the elderly come to me for a photo now. This film has completely changed my career,” claims the actor.

“I am getting offers from Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. But I don’t want to do anything in a hurry as I am choosing the films,” he says. He has signed a Kannada film and is also in talks for a Tamil film. “Before Baahubali, I had given dates for the Telugu film Bengal Tiger. But I have not signed any new Telugu film,” he says.

Interestingly, Prabhakar’s mother finally watched Baahubali just this weekend. “She was in my village and after the film’s release, many told her about my performance. She recently visited a doctor near our village and somebody told him that she was the mother of Kaalakeya. The doctor refused to take any fees and requested her to introduce me to him,” reveals Prabhakar.
