5 rejected tech colleges get affiliation, Eamcet list soon

About 99 private engineering colleges were inspected by the AICTE-JNTU teams

Hyderabad: AICTE-JNTU Hyderabad inspection teams have given full affiliation to five of the seven non-petitioner private engineering colleges whose courses had earlier been rejected.

The colleges had applied for re-inspections after the JNTU-H had given an option for non-petitioner colleges despite the Hyderabad High Court order being limited only to the 121 petitioner colleges.

TS Eamcet authorities said another list of approved colleges would be released next week after permissions from the Hyderabad High Court. The inspections reports of the petitioner colleges have been submitted to the AICTE headquarters for final approvals.

The non-petitioner colleges are considered close to the ruling TRS, with two of them being owned by TRS MLC P. Rajeshwar Reddy.

Mr B. Srinivas of TS Eamcet said, “The inspection reports of the petitioner colleges have to be submitted to the High Court after which they will be released. Without HC permissions we can’t release the list. These non-petitioner colleges were inspected as per the discretion of the JNTU.”

About 99 private engineering colleges were inspected by the AICTE-JNTU teams.

Other engineering colleges have meanwhile alleged that the JNTU-H had created the option for non-petitioner colleges to be re-inspected since those close to the TRS could not have approached the court for obvious reasons.

“Colleges close to the TRS couldn’t have gone to court against the JNTU-H which is essentially going against the TRS government itself. Whichever courses they applied for got full affiliations,” said the owner of a private engineering college, which was again rejected after re-inspections.

JNTU-H sources, however, said the move was to have equality among all colleges and added that all inspections had been carried out fairly.

Sources also informed that the inspection reports have been submitted to the AICTE again for its final scrutiny before being submitted to the High Court.

Sources said this was to avoid any allegations of irregularities on part of JNTU-H and so that the varsity could claim foolproof checks from the regulator itself.

Meanwhile, second round counselling ended on Thursday night. Seat allotments for the same are to be announced on Friday.
