Yakub Memon's hanging sets off verbal war
Government should show a “similar commitment” in all terror cases - Digvijay Singh
New Delhi: A virtual political slugfest erupted on Thursday morning over the hanging of 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon, with Congress leaders Digvijay Singh and Shashi Tharoor raising questions about the credibility of the government and the judiciary, and the BJP attacking their comments as “bizarre” and an “insult” to the people.
AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh fired the first salvo, saying the government should show a “similar commitment” in all terror cases as it did in the case of Yakub Memon. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said he was “saddened” by the news that “our government has hanged a human being”.
