Does Rahul Gandhi's 'mediocrity on top' comment apply to Congress: BJP

Rahul Gandhi earlier said that the RSS and its ideologues are promoting mediocrity

New Delhi: Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi over his remarks accusing RSS and its ideologues of "systematically promoting mediocre people in the system", BJP on Friday wondered if the Congress vice president's comment also applied to his party.

"Does Rahul Gandhi's statement at FTII, Pune about 'Mediocrity on the Top' also apply to the Congress party," Union Minister Arun Jaitley said in a tweet, an apparent swipe at dynastic culture.

On a visit to the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) campus to extend support to the students agitating for removal of Gajendra Chauhan as chairman, Rahul said the RSS and its ideologues are "undermining" the institution's stature by promoting "mediocrity" and bullying the critics as "anti-national and "anti-Hindu."

BJP MP and noted film actor Paresh Rawal also took potshots saying he wanted to ask FTII students, who are seeing "a political worker" in Gajendra Chauhan, if they seeing a "film-maker" in Rahul Gandhi.

He has got a topic and he should be allowed to be "happy and celebrate" it, Rawal had said mocking Rahul.
