THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet has given administrative sanction for the light metro projects but the role of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is yet to be specified, say sources.
“As far as we know, the government has decided to execute the project on the lines of Kochi metro rail. So we expect DMRC would be given the same role of turnkey consultant,” said the official.
DMRC has demanded that the government make them the turnkey consultant for executing the projects and demanded 6 per cent of the total project cost as the consultancy fee.
“The turnkey consultant would have a pivotal role to play starting from floating the tender to ensure timely execution of the project without much cost escalation. It’s more like a deposited work and the government would have to provide the funds and the DMRC would take care of the entire project. Even the trial run would DMRC’s responsibility,” said the official.
